Mt. Gretna Campmeeting

Mt. Gretna has many year-round residents that include both retirees and working professionals. Along with the "full-timers" are a wonderful mix of vacationers from around the country, both of whom enjoy the summer camaraderie, cultural activities, as well as the winter calm. Many come here for a respite from the heat and constant activity of the city. They come for hiking or riding on the great number of trails that surround the Campmeeting, or for theater, music, and arts programs. All appreciate the social nature of the porches during daily "walk and talks". Many friendships begin on these porches and are renewed there each summer.

In the summer season Mt. Gretna is a busy community with crowds drawn to the Mt. Gretna Tabernacle, Mt. Gretna Playhouse, The "Jigger Shop Ice Cream Parlor" and the "Mt. Gretna Lake & Beach."  Consider coming up a few hours early and take a walking tour of our quaint cottages and experience the Victorian-era Mt. Gretna Campmeeting and Chautauqua communities.

Mt. Gretna Lake & Beach

Mt. Gretna Lake & Beach is a family owned and operated swim and recreation facility open to the public for a daily fee. They're open every day for swimming and picnics, with individual, family and group admission rates.

Jigger Shop

The art of producing soda fountain concoctions is fast becoming obsolete in our pre-packaged society. The Jigger Shop takes pride in continuing the time honored soda fountain traditions. The quality of their ice cream and syrups is the best that can be purchased. They give portions that are treat size and do not cut quantity to get around inflationary costs. The pleasant remembrances of your visit to The Jigger Shop will be based on quality, quantity and atmosphere.

Playhouse

The Mt Gretna Playhouse is an open air theater in one of the most beautiful and unique settings imaginable--a real 'Bridagoon' here for well over a century. The playhouse provides a wide variety of shows, all of them very well done, at very reasonable prices. The seats are comfortable, and high-tech fans keep the audience comfortable on all but the most stifling days. Locals provide low-cost refreshments, and crickets and cicadas offer background music for every show

Mt. Gretna Outdoor Art Show

The Mt. Gretna Outdoor Art Show is a community fundraiser promoted by the Pennsylvania Chautauqua. All proceeds benefit community projects. It features over 260 artists and performers from across the country. It's an event for the entire family. It includes arts and crafts, street performers, and cuisine at the gourmet food court.

Tabernacle

Since 1892 Christian people have gathered in Mt. Gretna during the summer for a time of spiritual and sometimes physical renewal. Since 1899 they have gathered in the structure that still stands today and is known as "The Tabernacle." The uninterrupted series of summer-time programs  is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
